This course is an advanced scene study that offers a comprehensive exploration of the world of acting. Students will not only continue to refine their ability to portray various characters from the plays but also enhance their knowledge of their bodies as acting instruments. By taking a physical approach to acting, students will focus on a wide range of plays made into films, including the works of Tennessee Williams, Tony Kushner, August Wilson, Georg Buchner, and Eugene Ionesco. The course will inspire a thoughtful examination of the similarities and differences between theater and film, revealing how dynamic, heightened live performances can differ from the intimate nuances captured by the camera. This course fulfills an elective for Theater majors and minors.
