This course provides students with the opportunity to gain a systematic and comprehensive understanding of the key concepts and skills essential to effective program development and project management in international affairs. It will focus on skills that practitioners need to be effective in a range of professional contexts and will provide a forum for exploring the trends, tensions, ethical dilemmas, and opportunities facing practitioners in the field of international affairs. PIA-I is the first of two courses that make up the Practice Option and it is a prerequisite to the course Practicum in International Affairs - II.

This course fulfills the PIA I requirement in the Julien J. Studley Graduate Programs in International Affairs.
