This course is designed to help you develop the key writing skills that media managers need to thrive in professional settings. You’ll learn how to analyze your audience’s needs and expectations, craft a distinctive personal voice, and know when and how to use it for maximum impact. We’ll cover the essentials of strong business writing, focusing on a variety of workplace writing needs including emails, memos, reports, performance appraisals, and blogs. These tools will help you initiate discussion, influence behavior, and drive change within your organization. We’ll also examine how to ensure your writing adds value, establishing workflows to generate original ideas, apply logic and evidence, and turn your thoughts into compelling narratives. A key feature of this course will be the focus on business plans. You’ll learn how to synthesize an executive summary, articulate a business rationale, and craft documents that support strategic decision-making—skills that will be especially beneficial for those preparing for the Management Capstone. Throughout the course, your writing will be critiqued constructively to help you grow. You’ll write frequently in various formats, building both your skills and your confidence. By the end of the course, you’ll be better equipped to think clearly, express yourself with impact, and succeed in your media management career.
