This intensive DSLR workshop is designed to give students a quick start into learning the ins and outs of fundamental DSLR image-making and mastering techniques of digital photography and its aesthetics. This workshop will review camera basics, practice using camera settings, controls and lenses; explore composition, form, and color theory; and incorporate theories of still photography and their relation to cinema in a hands-on, practical experience that will strengthen photography , cinematography and storytelling skills. This 1-credit Tech Workshop takes place over three consecutive Saturdays, with hands-on homework assignments during the intervening weeks.

This course is open to MA in Media Studies, MS and graduate certificate in Media Management, and Documentary Studies Certificate students only. All other graduate students may request permission after August 1st by emailing mediastudiesadvising@newschool.edu.
