This intensive advanced DSLR workshop, which takes place over three consecutive Saturdays, is designed to give students a deeper understanding of advanced DSLR image-making and mastering specialized techniques. This workshop will review advanced composition, form, and color theory; high dynamic range photography; shooting RAW images; panoramic techniques and stitching methods; appropriate use of lens filters; low light portraiture and city lights. Students will examine influential photography and produce photos demonstrating the interdependence between photography and cinema in a hands-on, practical experience that will strengthen advanced cinematography skills.

NOTE: For ONLINE section only - students taking this course online are expected to own or acquire a Sony Mirrorless Digital Camera and Adobe Cloud-compatible computer, or comparable equipment. These are available for free check-out on campus, or for purchase www.bhphotovideo.com (Sony A6400 Mirrorless Digital Camera) with a 16 to 50 mm lens kit. Please contact instructor for equipment details and acceptable substitutions prior to registration.
This course is open to MA in Media Studies, MS and graduate certificate in Media Management, and Documentary Studies Certificate students only. All other graduate students may request permission three (3) weeks before the start of the course by emailing mediastudiesadvising@newschool.edu.
