This course provides an in-depth exploration of production design in the film and television industry. Students will learn the fundamentals of production design, including its role and responsibilities, collaboration with other key departments, and the creative process. They will gain a comprehensive understanding of the language of production design, visual storytelling elements, and research techniques. Practical application and collaboration will be emphasized through sessions on set design and construction, art direction and prop styling, costume and makeup design, and location scouting and management. Advanced topics such as digital tools and visualization techniques, budgeting, and production design management will also be covered. Through case studies and guest speakers, students will develop a strong foundation in production design and its application in real-world scenarios.
