How do we stay in dialogue when the stakes are high, especially when issues of identity and power are on the table? In this course, we’ll learn to have the hard conversations that build trust, deepen connection, and make change possible. Through reflection, awareness, practice, and feedback, students will explore how power and difference shape our interactions in workplaces, communities, and social movements. They will develop the skills to engage courageously and with care across intersectional differences of race, class, gender, and culture. We’ll cultivate emotional intelligence, resilience, and the capacity to navigate discomfort without retreating or causing harm. Students will practice “calling in” rather than “calling out,” learning frameworks and tools to transform conflict into collaboration and belonging. Courageous Conversations is for anyone who wants to lead with empathy, communicate with integrity, and help create teams, organizations, and movements where everyone feels seen, valued, and invited to contribute.
