This course introduces basic concepts and practices of accounting and double-entry bookkeeping. Journals, ledgers, and various types of accounts are described and discussed. Real-world business transactions are analyzed, and their proper entry into financial records is demonstrated. Students learn how to determine profit or loss on a cash or accrual basis and related skills, such as preparing budgets and reading basic financial statements.
