Situation analysis is a theoretically-derived research method that is used to clarify perplexing interpersonal episodes. Researchers draw on an array of quantitative and qualitative methods to gather data and bring clarity to the problem. The great advantages of the method are its efficiency and its utility for delimiting reasonable approaches to problem solution. This method is used in business, international affairs, public health and other fields that need to be able to name and respond to complex problems. Note: this course was previously titled Big Data.
