Books for Writers
Summer 2022
Taught By: Madge McKeithen
Section: A
CRN: 2461
Credits: 3
What better way to launch your own summer of writing than a deep dive into three terrific recent books -- one of nonfiction, one of fiction, and one of poems? How does each author do what they do, and how can reading and discussing these works with a community of writers deepen and expand your own writing ? Each week we consider context, content, and craft in two asynchronous Canvas workshops and one Zoom synchronous workshop. On Fridays, each participant has the opportunity to discuss in individual conferences with the instructor how they might incorporate some of what they have observed in these published works into their own individual writing projects. Open to all undergraduate students. For Riggio Students and Creative Writing majors, this course's credits may be used toward either Writing Workshop or Literature requirements.
