In this course, we will introduce the fundamentals of visual communication within the context of fashion systems and practices. Class time will include research, observation, design ideation, visual expression of ideas, and analog and digital design presentation methods. Students will engage in observational drawing, mark making, photography, digital image creation, color and pattern explorations, and the integration of a variety of analog and digital media to communicate their design ideas and individual aesthetic. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to creatively communicate and present their fashion design concepts that meet contemporary global fashion practices. Note: PAFD 1000 Design Communication, PAFD 1010 Textiles & Materials, PAFD 1100 Core 1, and PAFD 1110 Technical Studio must all be completed before progressing to PAFD 1200 Core 2 and beyond.
