This course introduces the soft materials available to interior designers, emphasizing their importance in creating cohesive and functional spaces. Students will explore the design challenges associated with materials such as upholstery, window treatments, and floor and wall coverings. Each element will be discussed in terms of design, specification, and installation, taking students through research, analysis, and application phases. The study will be approached with a consciousness of circularity, encouraging students to consider the life cycle and long-term impact of their material choices while developing practical and innovative design solutions.

Open to: Associate degree in Interior Design majors; others by permission of the Interior Design program. Pre-requisite(s): None
