Design Studio 3
Parsons School of Design: School of Constructed Env.
CRN: 16016
Credits: 6
This course combines deeper intellectual inquiry and technical analysis of light and interior design through engagement with an existing urban site in New York City and the proposition of new design interventions. Students explore large-scale urban conditions, circulation patterns, programmatic layout, material, color, pattern along side other diverse topics surrounding human health and interior qualitative considerations. This studio unites lighting and interior design students in order to collaboratively measure, evaluate, and propose new design projects; the proposals stimulate debate about aesthetics, energy conservation, and social ethics. Students employ a variety of techniques, including computer visualizations, physical models, and full-scale mock-ups.
