This course is a research based preparatory seminar in the final fall term that precedes the spring Thesis Studio. Here, students work closely with faculty to define and examine a topic of their choosing that will subsequently be examined through a design problem in Thesis Studio. Students conduct research, establish case study reports to substantiate their argument, draft their thesis abstract and learn formal research writing techniques.

Pre-requisite(s): successful completion of semesters 1 and 2 of the MFA Lighting Design program. Open to: Masters degree in Lighting Design majors, Masters degree in Interior Design and Lighting Design Double Degree majors, and Masters degree in Architecture and Lighting Design Dual Degree majors; others by permission.
