Through research, fieldwork and design projects, students will gain a broad understanding of the complex economic, political, social, environmental and physical forces that influence urban growth. Areas of discussion include organizational ownership structure, strategic planning, communication, group dynamics, asset acquisition, budgeting and staffing. At the conclusion of this course, students will have a foundational understanding of the existing and emerging professional landscape workplace jargon, basic soft-skills and workplace dynamics. The course will integrate role-playing, multimedia resources, readings, guest lecturers and active discussion.

Open to: MS in Design and Urban Ecologies majors only. Pre-requisite(s): PGUD 5260 Urban Ecologies Methods 3.
