Art of Love: Ideal Into Design
Fall 2024
Taught By: Nick Nelson
Section: A

CRN: 17505

Credits: 3

This elective will work with students to turn an (ideal) concept into creative practice. It takes the most elusive yet fascinating of concepts – love – and asks how it can be visualized, materialized and communicated in the context of art and design. Two questions loom large behind this process of transformation from theory to practice, from concept to material: 1), how to define love in the first place, and, 2) how to prevent love from becoming a commodity within its transformation into communicable, visualized material.

Open to: University undergraduate degree students. Pre-requisites: first-year university writing course and at least one prior history or methods course in art, media, film, or visual culture.
