Transformations in culture, art and society have always excited the attention of thinkers and practitioners in all fields, and especially today, when changes of values and standards have occasioned reflection on possibilities newly opening and on others allegedly foreclosed. In this course we read five fundamental thinkers who confront the problem of the new, with special attention to its bearing on art and design practice.

Open to: All university degree students. Pre-requisites: first-year university writing course and at least one prior history or methods course in art, media, film, or visual culture.
