Professional Development Practicum
Parsons School of Design: Sch. Art and Dsgn Hist and Th
CRN: 12375
Credits: 3
This course looks at the ways in which students can use their BFA degree in Design History and Practice after graduating from Parsons. Instead of only assuming that this degree can lead to one, particular kind of job, this course assesses a wide range of possibilities that relate to careers in art and design. While there will be ample conversation in the classroom about the professionalization of this degree, students will also interact with (both at Parsons and off campus) various professionals who will share their life experiences in the arts and design. The course also looks at post-professional tracks that can include commercial, academic, as well as studio-based careers. While this course is a core requirement for students majoring in the BFA in Design History and Practice, students majoring in related degrees will also find this course of interest.
