Screenprinting utilizes a wide range of imaging techniques, from handmade and photographic images to abstract visual forms and can be printed on many different surfaces. In this Printmaking course students learn to work with reduction printing, hand painted acetate stencils, cut stencils, and digititally generated images for screenprinting, as well as learning to mix inks and use a range of printing and registering techniques. The materials used are water soluble and non-toxic. Techniques learned in this class are applicable to projects in all major studio areas. The class is open to beginning and advanced students. This online course is an opportunity to learn the exciting, hands on, art of screen-printing. Through synchronous and asynchronous support, instruction, and demonstrations, students learn to convert their drawings and designs into screen stencils, and print them both on paper, and apparel (T-shirts, canvass bags). In addition to incorporating screen printing into their own art practice, students will gain an appreciation for the screen-print medium, and its important place in art, design, and culture. This course is open to beginning and advanced students. Please note that there may be costs for materials up to $150 associated with this class. No students will be turned away from the class for an inability to pay this cost.
