This course builds on skills from the typography core to address type and image at varying scales. Students learn to design for three-dimensional space using typography, composition, and time-based media to create experiences through interpretation and storytelling. The class addresses a range of spatial contexts from retail or exhibition design to urban signage and wayfinding.

Note: this course was previously offered as Spatial Graphics. Open to: Bachelors degree in Communication Design majors and Communication Design minors, juniors and seniors only; others by permission of the program. Pre-requisite(s): PUCD 2025 Core Studio Typography, or PSAM 1070 Typography and Visual Design, or PACD 1100 Core 1: Typography, or (PAGD 1140 Digital Layout + PAGD 1060 Typography 1.).
