This course explores how to design for a fixed set of images and words that are meant to last for a long period of time. Discussions on how to interpret and structure content, how to think conceptually about form and content, how to think about the context of the book within an archive, and how to think about the design of archives themselves (both physical and digital) will be interwoven with studio exercises and book projects.

Open to: Bachelors or Associates degree in Communication Design majors, Communication Design minors, and Photography minors; others by permission of the program. Pre-requisite(s): PUCD 2025 Core 1: Typography Studio, or PSAM 1070 CD Foundations: Typography, or PACD 1100 Core 1: Typography. Note: this course was previously offered under the title Book Design.
