Pictozine
Spring 2023
Taught By: Faculty TBA
Section: A
CRN: 3848
Credits: 3
In this class students will make small edition, self-published visual books, illustrated pamphlets, pictorial chapbooks, artist’s books, comics and image-based zines. Students will produce self-published small edition books or zines, on their own and collaboratively. The goals of the class are to explore self-publishing individually and collaboratively, as both a means of self-expression and as a way of disseminating personal work to a broad audience. As self-publishing has allowed more personal and self-expressive visual narrative works to be created and distributed, many of which then find homes at traditional publishers, the class will explore self-publishing’s creative and commercial possibilities. Students will also produce work for, and manage a booth of their work at, the MoCCA Festival.
