Critical Platform
Parsons School of Design: School of Art, Media, and Tech
CRN: 17585
Credits: 3
In this advanced design studio, students will have the opportunity to participate in real world digital product design projects for clients within Parsons and The New School. The class will operate like an in-house digital product design team under the creative direction of the faculty instructor, who will establish project specifications, form design teams, and manage the collaboration with the projects' internal clients. In addition to the project-based experience, the course will demand criticality, as students consider how digital infrastructure (community platforms, shared resources, and collective archives) are designed and structured, and how design and technical decisions can enable more accessible and equitable ways of collaboration and publishing. Admission to the class is selective. Priority will be given to students who demonstrate creative and technical proficiency in interaction design and/or programming and the ability to work collaboratively in a team. Open to: University Graduate Students and upper level undergraduate degree students by permission. To apply fill out the Critical Platform Studio Application here.
