Immersive Soundscapes
Fall 2024
Taught By: Carly Cannell
Section: A

CRN: 16004

Credits: 3

This course will explore soundscapes, sonic and acoustic ecologies, human perception, noise as a condition, and social justice implications around branding sound. Sound is an often-overlooked aspect of the built environment, yet it plays a critical role in shaping our experiences of space and place. The study of soundscapes can provide valuable insights into biodiversity patterns, human behavior, and climate dynamics. In this course, we will explore the relationship between psychoacoustic parameters and acoustic comfort in relation to the built environment, and consider the significant implications for understanding the interrelationship of these interactions for the future of our cities and communities.

Open to all university undergraduate degree students.
