Through anecdotal lectures and in-depth practical design work, students in this elective will have an opportunity to develop their knowledge of the science and engineering of how buildings stand up. Learn basic principles of statics, strength, and stiffness. Study the basic behavior of beams and columns. The course seeks to develop a qualitative as well as quantitative understanding of structural analysis and serves as an introduction to Structural Technology 2.
