Credits: 3

How can design seek to promote community-based approaches that invest in dignity, and repairs and restores human relationships? Our design ecologies are malleable spaces that are aware of, and seamlessly react to our changing environments. Our environments must enhance our relationships as humankind, and recognize our past wrongs. How do these past wrongs shape our spaces, systems and interactions? Restorative Justice is the repair and reconciliation of our environment that recognizes our relationship to each other, and the larger forces that are shaping the climactic future of our world. Students will examine the empirical evidence in restorative justice case studies and make proposals to identify critical issues around the integration of solutions in design ecologies.
