Live Project/Temp Environments
Parsons School of Design: School of Constructed Env.
CRN: 13829
Credits: 3
Students in this course will produce a full-scale interior environment/display that will be installed in the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center, opening in June 2024. They will be tasked to interpret and respond to the legacy of the Stonewall Riots while advocating for underrepresented communities through study, outreach, and collaboration. Students from SCE (and beyond) will work with members of the LGBQT+ community, its allies, and private sector representatives in a live, real-time setting to research, develop, prototype, and actualize. Students will build on and respond to the ideas and research of the previous class while working closely with Pride Live, the driving force behind establishing the Center. Mocking up, prototyping, and testing the content produced in class at full scale will be central to bringing the project to life. While some work may be done individually, the final outcome and success will depend on the ability of all to work together as a team through the end of the semester and through the opening of the Center.
