This course focuses on construction documents as the essential legal and technical instruments interior designers use to communicate design intent to contractors and vendors. Students will develop a complete set of professional-quality construction documents for an interior space, emphasizing industry standards, graphic clarity, and accuracy. In addition, the course will explore the role of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in streamlining design coordination and documentation. Students will also examine the growing importance of sustainable practices in construction, including deconstruction versus demolition, circular design, and the consideration of embodied carbon in material choices. These concepts will be integrated into the development of construction documents, preparing students to create responsible and future-focused designs.
