Creative Intelligences
Parsons School of Design: School of Design Strategies
CRN: 17982
Credits: 3
This course is a project-based, hands-on, philosophical collision of students’ creative practice with emerging and evolving forms of other intelligence. It asks both profound and practical questions about what it means to create in this moment and, more specifically, how might one create in responsive and response-able relation to other intelligences. It is a collaboration with The Artificiality Institute , a nonprofit research organization shaping the future human experience of AI—how it changes the way we think, who we become, and what it means to be human. Their mission is “to shape the emerging human experience in an increasingly synthetic world through story-based research, immersive education, and cultural dialogue,” and their vision is “a world where human identity is enriched by awe of diverse intelligences, wonder at emergent consciousness, and symbiosis with minds created for our minds.” In other words, they are deeply engaged with humanistic questions about the kinds of relationships that will evolve in relation to technology, specifically AI.
