Spring 2024
Taught By: Adam Hayes
Section: A

CRN: 14639

Credits: 3

This course will build on existing skills in design and strategy by focusing on impact as the driver of real innovation. Assessing impact allows us to go beyond speculation to successfully execute strategies. We will explore how to preserve value that exists and sustainably build new opportunities. Work will be structured through workshops that mirror professional consulting but emphasize speculative freedom. A series of projects will extend one strategic path and manage its evolution in the face of ongoing discovery and the introduction of unexpected challenges. Students will be encouraged to bring ideas and problems that are of particular interest to them along with methodologies developed in past work. These approaches will then be subjected to simulated real world conditions to introduce new tools and extend existing skills.
