Spring 2026
Taught By: John Bruce
Section: A

CRN: 17021

Credits: 3

The course is structured around studio sessions where students explore image-based practices of fabulation, narrative experimentation, and ethnography. They will engage in critical discussions and work both independently and collaboratively to produce short films, experimental video pieces, and other creative expressions shaped by their own interests and practices. These works will be shared, discussed, and critiqued in regular workshops, creating a feedback loop that encourages reflexivity, reciprocity, and mutual learning. Through this practice-based research, students will be asked to consider how their works contribute to new forms of collective knowing, offering an alternative to traditional forms of academic research that separate theory from practice. In partnership with the Collective Fabulation Lab
