This course offers an introduction to digital patternmaking through use of the Lectra Modaris system. It is designed to support learning within the core design courses of the BFA and AAS Fashion Design programs, as well as other related courses. Pattern digitization is approached with NShot or a Digitizer. Conventional patternmaking to realize students’ own designs is approached in a vector--based digital environment. The course culminates in the student designing and constructing a garment and its pattern through a combination of conventional manual methods and Modaris. This includes using the 3D modeling feature of Modaris.

Open to: BFA and AAS in Fashion Design majors only. Pre-requisites: PUFD 2230 Visual Communication Studio 1 and PUFD 2240 Creative Technical Studio 1; OR PAFD 1000 Design Communication and PAFD 1110 Technical Studio.
