Machine Knitting 2 focuses on the advancement of technical skills and techniques in relation to domestic flatbed knitting equipment. Students will develop advanced competency in prototyping stitches and enhanced knit product developments. This course will build on the foundational knowledge, techniques, and skills of Machine Knitting 1, and will support students to effectively explore the context of their own design aesthetic and process. Students will continue to advance their own material language within the context of making, experimentation and technical vocabulary. Through primary research and contextual and reflective processes, students will continue to progress their concepts towards a mixed range of design outcomes, from swatch developments to garments and more experimental mixed media processes.
