In this studio, the first in a six-course core studio sequence, students will develop an understanding of the basic vocabularies, skills/techniques, practices and contexts of architectural design, and will work both individually and collaboratively, in a studio environment. Through a set of rigorous, iterative small projects, the student will investigate concepts of Scale, Space Making and Systems in architecture. This investigative method of “thinking through making” allows the student to acquire tacit knowledge of the architectural design process.

Open to: BFA Architectural Design majors only. Co-requisite: PUAD 2020 Representation and Analysis.
