Environmental Design: Architecture and Energy
Parsons School of Design: School of Constructed Env.
CRN: 3037
Credits: 3
Environmental Design introduces environmental principles and approaches to ecological design as they relate to the built environment. The class will prepare students to understand their physical environment: how elements in the built environment interact to modify both space and climate. The material will be presented to provoke studio design issues and to provide an understanding of the architectural integration of environmentally conscious design strategies. This course offers technical support for the design concepts being developed in Architectural Design Studio 3. The lectures and exercises are organized and paced according to the timelines of Architectural Design Studio 3. Throughout the semester, the students will be developing their design proposals for A House as a Thermal Machine in both classes.
