This course examines game culture, theory, design and development. The principles of traditional games, sports games and party games will be analyzed and applied to designing games. As a class we will be playing games, making games and analyzing games in order to build a common and more extensive vocabulary to both discuss and understand the form. Included in our exploration will be play testing, pitching, and evaluation of our games, within a conversation about play, social dynamics and identity. Collaboration is central to the course, as participation and interaction though a varity of media. The course centers around analog games and materials with some introduction to digital games.
