This elective will expose students to a variety of design studios that focus on self-sufficient, in-house batch manufacturing and their models of self-production. Students will take on the design, development and limited production of a very simple, low-cost but provocative product that could be manufactured in an in-house studio setting. Topics covered will include market research, issues of efficiency in product, and basic issues of intellectual property.
