In this introductory course, you will learn how to move ideas from the screen into real, physical things. Using digital tools such as laser cutting, 3D modeling, 3D printing and digital textile printing, you will make work at three scales: the object, the body and the space around us. We will look at how we interact with the objects we use every day and the spaces we live in, and how digital fabrication can shape those relationships.You will create body coverings, accessories, small objects and spatial pieces using a range of materials. Along the way, we will explore the history and social context of wearables, objects and space to inform your projects. This course is open to students from all majors, including fashion, product design, and architecture. No previous experience with digital tools is needed. You will build hands-on skills, experiment with materials, and discover how digital making can support your own creative practice.
