Spring 2025
Taught By: Scott Aker
Section: H

CRN: 14407

Credits: 2

Concurrent with the DS4 studio assignment, this lab will examine the student’s interior design project through the lens of building systems integration; placing emphasis on understanding technical aspects of systems (construction types, structural, power, lighting, audio-visual, mechanical, plumbing, fire suppression), and its impact on human well-being within an interior environment (thermal comfort, interior air quality, acoustic, etc.). Building Information Modeling (BIM) will be used as a vehicle to learn, coordinate, and articulate the complexities of building systems in their DS4 studio project. Weekly assignments will explore the interrelationships between base building, building systems, and detailing. The lab will conclude with a building systems integrated set of interior drawings.
