Design Studio 6: Capstone
Spring 2025
Taught By: Adrienne Brown
Section: A

CRN: 3178

Credits: 4

Students in Design Studio 6 will develop a final studio project that synthesizes prior learning in Interior Design and culminates in a capstone project applied to various interior typologies. Exploring interiors on a deep level, students will research into operative, material and spatial design as social engagement relevant to current social, environmental, political, cultural and economic landscapes of the city as generative content for creating place. Professional practice and ethics, building systems, construction processes, and required documents will be further dissected. Students will be responsible for communicating verbally and visually the iterative process of their design work throughout the semester. Reconciling multiple stakeholders and audiences, students present their designs as a form of social engagement and innovation. Projects will vary in scale and type and provide a range of engagement options, advanced research methods and cutting-edge strategic thinking (i.e. materials, branding, and systems thinking) will support the initial study, diagramming and concept development. The project will culminate in a written and visual proposition shared with a public audience.
