In this six-hour Sophomore studio course, students will be introduced to the technical skills needed to realize a variety of 2D-based Illustration projects. They will explore the possibilities of text-image storytelling through a wide range of visual media including drawing, watercolor, acrylic and gouache painting, collage and digital imaging. In-class exercises will explore the technical possibilities of these various media. Drawing exercises will concentrate on the problems of object and spatial description. All exercises will be related to the demands of print and digital reproduction.
