Core Studio 3 is a two-part intensive course that builds on students’ technical skills, bridging still and moving images in digital, lens-based production. Honing their creative vision, while engaging professional practices, students gain a foundation in digital capture and conceptual approaches.The first 7-weeks of the semester continue on still image production, advanced camera and studio techniques. Assignments and workshops will be bringing together research and idea based concepts. In the second 7-weeks, students learn digital video production and sound, from capture to post-production. Students explore the language and theory of imaging practices, and apply critical thinking and technical skills to define their own visual approach. The course will have elements of both synchronous and asynchronous learning that assist students to contextualize their work through lectures, demonstrations, readings, and writing. Students will also be encouraged to embrace creative risk, and engage in rigorous discussion and peer review.

Open to: Bachelors degree in Photography majors, sophomores only. Pre-requisite: PUPH 2100 Core Studio 1: Photo Practices. Co-requisite: PUPH 2101 Lab Studio 1: Photo Practices.
