In this course, you will be introduced to digital video production and editing, sound editing, and visual style across multiple genres. You will examine the language and theory of photography in the context of moving image practices, using critical thinking and technical skills to develop your own unique visual approach. The course emphasizes conceptual development and creative strategies through hands-on work, technical demonstrations, screenings, short and long-term assignments, and classroom discussions. You will gain a critical perspective through self and peer-to-peer evaluation, as well as through lectures, readings, and visits to galleries, museums, and commercial studios. Core Studio 3 is designed to help you develop your artistic vision and awareness of contemporary methods of video production, while preparing you for ongoing practice in the field.

Open to: Bachelors degree in Photography majors, sophomores only. Pre-requisite: PUPH 2100 Core Studio 1: Photo Practices. Co-requisite: PUPH 3101 Core Seminar 3.
