This class begins the process in the recognition and release of tension related habits that impede the full, free, flexible, and expressive use of the vocal instrument. This fundamental discovery proceeds through exercises and explorations in physical readiness, balance and alignment, respiration and positioning, phonation, support, registration and resonance. This course develops and applies the overall abilities of the vocal instrument, as well as the skill acquisitions and applications of the technique to a variety of dramatic styles and materials. This course fulfills the speech/voice pre-requisite for advanced acting courses at the School of Drama.
