This class offers you an introduction to the principles of dramatic writing with specific focus on the fundamental dramaturgical elements including character, objective, situation, conflict, dramatic stakes (with particular reference to Aristotle’s “The Poetics”), as well as dialogue and moment-to-moment emotional authenticity. The instructor will lead the class through a series of exercises designed to leverage and sharpen our innate sense of drama, narrative and emotional connection to craft and develop well-constructed scenes.
