This elective class offers an in-depth understanding of the technique and craft of dramatic writing along with an emphasis on dramaturgy and text-analysis. Over the course of the semester students will be first deciding with the professor what a suitable subject is for a one act and then commencing on the writing of an original play with the hopes of completion at the end of the semester. The students work will be read and discussed in class. Focus will be on the dramaturgical elements of character, conflict, action and story. Weekly writing is mandatory at a five page minimum.
