This course investigates the role of the director in both a historical and contemporary context and serves as a launching pad for the introduction of fundamental skills required for the position. The key roles of the director in text analysis, interpretation, design, casting, rehearsal, tech and performance are examined alongside practical aspects of storytelling, making meaning, composition, the casting process, and scene work.
