This one semester course introduces the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) the system for notating speech sounds and their adjustments. Elements of well-spoken Neutral American Speech are covered and reinforced in preparation for next semester's study of dialects. The semester culminates with an in-class performance before an invited audience of an Edgar Allan Poe short story.This course is only open to BFA Drama students who have completed one year of Foundations in Acting - or are Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors.
