Advanced Writing 2 is an advanced writing course for playwrights. Each student will discuss with the professor in class what a suitable subject is for an original play and then commence on the writing of said play for the rest of the semester. In some cases, students will continue to work on a play that they have started and intend to finish. Attention will be paid to each student’s individual play where elements of character, conflict, action, story among other things will be discussed in detail. Weekly writing is mandatory at a five page minimum and no maximum. The professor will give feedback to the students one on one and answer any questions. Students then will be given required reading or viewing assignments tailored to the play they are working on. All reading or viewing assignments are given in direct response to the individual work the student is doing and can range from poetry, film, literature, history, music, dance, etc.
