CRS: The Teaching Artist in the Field
College of Performing Arts: Drama
CRN: 9161
Credits: 3
Students enrolled in this Collaborative Research Studio 2 must have successfully completed the first part of this course (CRS 1) in the Fall semester to be eligible for enrollment. In the spring semester, participants will complete assignments leading to the creation of a unique, personalized, and informed teaching artist portfolio so that they are prepared to enter the field of arts and education as teaching artists. Via class assignments, group discussion, and learning from invited professional guest speakers and panelists in the field of educational theatre, students will explore multiple theories and practices in arts education that were introduced in CRS 1. This, combined with reflection and personal narrative, will provide students a platform from which to synthesize their own beliefs about teaching and learning, which will be developed into a personal statement and incorporated into the final portfolio.
