Directed Research: New and Extant Plays 2
College of Performing Arts: Drama
CRN: 9164
Credits: 3
Directed Research: New and Extant Plays is an opportunity for students to apply the skills and practices of the Dramatic Arts curriculum to a culminating Senior Project in writing, directing, acting, or design- based on the presentation of an existing dramatic text or the development and presentation of a new student-written dramatic text. During the year-long course, students will document and reflect on their process of conceptualizing, preparing, creating, and presenting their Senior Project in a final Process Book. This course calls upon students to draw from techniques, skills, and learning from the BFA core curriculum while applying insights afforded by New School electives. Students are expected to identify prominent challenges in their disciplinary and creative practice and develop a responsive process that can adapt to unexpected creative, production, or collaborative obstacles. On the path towards the completion of a culminating project, students will employ and refine their evolving skills of research, analysis, communication, collaboration, and presentation in the Dramatic Arts field.
